At the heart of the Battle of the Ukulele Bands is our goal to help support the Ukulele Kids Club in their mission to bring the healing power of music to kids in children’s hospitals. So, we want to celebrate our competitors who really connect with the spirit of the competition and go above and beyond to raise money for this fabulous organization – not just in the amount of funds raised, but in creativity and originality!!
Many of you know that last year, the Unlikely Strummers launched a “You’ve Been Uked” campaign in their bid to compete. Donors could request a surprise serenade for a friend, family member, or coworker at their home, office, or other location. We serenaded at parties and meetings, as well as in restaurants, grocery stores, hair salons, parking lots, and even a backyard shed!
We want you to continue the tradition of the offbeat and unexpected in our efforts to support the UKC, so this year, there will be a new prize for most creative fundraising! Send us the story of your wackiest, most inventive, “yep, we did that!” fundraising strategy to enter. Submissions should be 200-300 words (roughly one page) that describe your creative fundraising strategy, its inspiration, and its outcome. Photo or video documentation is welcomed and encouraged!
Send your submissions via email to [email protected]. Submissions must be received by midnight on June 1. The winner will be chosen by our prize committee.
